The Scissett DIY team is a dynamic blend of individuals with a diverse set of skills and experience, with a shared passion for DIY and a common goal to offer the best customer experience.
When you visit our store you maybe lucky enough to see our cats Mary-Joe and Zodiac, these two joined us to do a very important job and they are both star employees. Both were rescued and are now very settled in to shop life.
Bernie is on hand to help choose the best dog toys and treats, and greet our customers, they haven’t quite got the hang of scanning yet but will be happy to say hello.
What Mike doesn’t know about paint and coatings isn’t worth knowing, with over 15 years experience in the manufacture and distribution and not to mention application of paint he can help direct you to the right product for your job, with extensive knowledge of the preparation tools and products, Mike can help you get the finish you need by getting the start right.
Growing up in a family of trades people, Claire has always had a passion for getting stuck in, and loves nothing more than finding solutions. With extensive experience in wallcoverings Claire is passionate about helping you find the décor finish that makes your house a home you can be proud of. Claire is also a little nut’s about animals, and as such we stock an extensive range of wild bird feeds and pet accessories.
Always greeting our customers with a warm and welcoming smile Sophie likes nothing more than helping our customers find what they need and often finding a solution for a problem you didn’t know you had.
Having our own in-house artist brings a flare of individuality and creativity to the team, Lew a professional sculptor has a vast knowledge of various medium and how they can be creatively joined. With a practical knowledge of our fixings and fastenings range, he is on hand to help.
Mikes Dad, Jerry is about throughout the week to offer a bespoke wood cutting service, growing up in a farming environment and spending many years with his own allotment and veg patch, he’s also a fountain of knowledge for those interested in our extensive gardening range.
On a weekend we are lucky to have Charlie and Nathan working with the team, each are passionate about delivering great customer service when you visit us in store.
There’s been a DIY shop in the village for 50 plus years, Firths being the first and fondly remembered by the locals was then taken over by S G Blackburns naming the shop as such, with real family focused business which was joined with the garage next door. During 2020 Scissett DIY was born, initially called Parker Jo’s. The store opening October 2020 during the challenges of the pandemic but offering a great local service for much needed products, ensuring the jobs in the home and garden were taken care of. Having gone through three phases of growth in this short period of time the store is now the largest it’s ever been ensuring we can hold a wide variety of products and brands which has gained us the reputation of being a real Aladdin’s Cave.
