ESP Edge Seal Protection extends the lifespan of panel products by creating a watertight seal around exposed edges, preventing moisture penetration and protecting against delamination, warping, and rot. This specialised sealant is ideal for exterior applications and high-humidity environments, helping materials like plywood, MDF, OSB, and sterling board remain strong and stable over time.
By sealing the edges of panel boards, ESP prevents water ingress, reducing the risk of swelling, splitting, and deterioration. This makes it perfect for projects exposed to the elements or high moisture levels, such as outdoor structures, kitchens, and bathrooms.
ESP is simple to apply—just paint a thick layer along the edges of the board with a 5mm overlap onto the flat surface. Use a paintbrush or medium-pile roller for even coverage, ensuring all holes and air pockets are completely sealed. The surface should be clean, dry, and free from dust or debris before application for optimal adhesion. This quick-drying formula is touch-dry within 2 hours, depending on humidity and drying conditions. Once cured, it stabilises plywood and similar materials, preventing warping while maintaining structural integrity.
For best results, ensure all surfaces are clean and dry before application. Use a woodwork stain and varnish brush for an even finish, or a medium-pile roller if applying by roller.
